Need an alternator bearing

janschutz

Corn Hauler
I have an original 68 alternator that still charges great but the front bearing sequels. I Need an alternator bearing, does anyone know where to get one?

Have you looked around for a local auto/electric repair shop? We have several in our area, you can take your original alternator, starter, etc to them and have them rebuilt.

Dissamble the alternator and onto the bearing you should read its number.
It should be a commom bearing. (inner dia / outer dia / width)

Did you ever dissamble a alternator ? When not , you should pay attention that the coil and diode plate stays together during dissambling.
The coil is soldered to the diode plate.
Do you have access to a disk puller?

Sorry for the bad technical term but I hope you understand what I mean.

Already have it apart. Took the front cover off and left the back side where the wires and diodes are.

every store that has stuff for the industry, have those bearings.

While apart, solder on some new brushes and you have a rebuilt alternator... also make sure the plastic piece that holds the brushes isn't cracked...

Muffler bearings?
