Mystery Parts

Going through some boxes from a parts car I had several years ago I I found these.

Thought I would ask before they hit the recycle bin.

Re: Mystry Parts

They look like distributor hold downs to me as well... in fact almost like the ones used on older small block chevys.

Re: Mystry Parts

When I saw them the first thing I thought of was distributer tie downs. What from? I don't know.

Size could be the deciding factor though.

Don't think dizzy hold downs would have a elongated hole.

Actually, they do... It allows you to loosen the hold down bolt, slide the hold down away so you can then remove the distributor. At least for the chevys with the distributor on the back of the engine it makes it a little easier to service. Except for the shape of the dimple on the spot where it contacts the manifold it looks very much like a chevy hold down.

That's what she said! :hide

Depending on size (i.e. if they're too small for a dist.), they could be speedo cable retainers from a trans!

Re: Mystry Parts

Whatever they are, they look like rough stamping's before the final finish stamping/shaping.

I took a picture of it with a tape measure next to it so you can get the scale. One is flipped over to show both sides.

They were in a box of parts that were in a parts car. Any one need them?

I was thinking Speedo cable hold down too. If they are chevy parts, well, you probably found them on the street, next to the engine.

My son once said' "Dad, they should make a lane for chevys, so when they break down they won't get in the way!"

That what I always thought the break down lane was for (Chevys).
