My Stable Just Got Bigger

A followup:

Through a business partnership I am acquiring a very solid, nice 1971 Mach I. I got the Marti report and it does show it is a 351 2V with an FMX transmission, a/c, p/s, console, full tinted windows, and am radio. The car has a NASA hood and Ram Air, but without the rubber seal. I am being told that the Ram Air was put on by the dealer because a 351C with a/c wouldn't receive Ram Air from the factory.

Is this true, or do I need to adjust my bs meter? I won't be going concours with the car, but most likely occasional driver. It depends on what is actually original. There may be some other dealer changes, but I don't have any documentation yet. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I would like to know what is in my stable.

Speaking of blind spots. I worked with a guy who drove a 71 Mach 1 and he backed it right under a trailer. Good thing the tractor wasn't hitched to it.

You are going to need a larger garage. I loved my Boss 351 back in the day. It was cool for sure. i do miss that body style!

There are huge blind spots and you may as well just throw away the riear view! All you will see is street lights!

When I am rich and famous I may just get another one!

Nice acquisition. For names if you still have not settled, how about 'Moe'?

How about "Clyde"?
Short for "Clydesdale" - a BIG horse. :)

You'll love it, Laurie. Rides nice, handles better than the earlier cars right out of the box, and is big enough to be way more comfortable all around.
Now as for that rearward view...

....and a repaint.

Is the front bumper painted? The car looks really great! I moved a friend's 73 Mach a few weeks ago and it was scary backing out onto the road with no door mirrors! Can't see a thing!

I don't know, I haven't seen it in person. What my friend told me is that at some point, the car was painted red and then repainted white, but the prep work wasn't good enough. This will give me a project car that I can drive while working on it. May just be able to drive it to Knott's next year.

The front bumpers on Mach 1s were body-coloured urethane starting in '71.

Just on the Machs? I thought only the 73's had the urethane front bumper. I don't see many 71-72's around my area, though.

Yup. "Regular" Mustangs still had chrome bumpers front and rear that year.
By '73 all had the painted urethane front bumpers.
