My son's idea...

The lower dash of my current project was hacked by a previous owner with miscellaneous holes... So I used the lower dash from my parts car - however the parts car had AC and my car does not. I thought about adding AC to my project, but that was not in keeping with my theme for the car, so I later investigated converting the car to the "Power ventilation" option. I was unable to procure all the parts for this, and had just about given up and resigned myself to hacking home made ductwork when my son said: "Hey, I bet you could mount your speakers in there".

I had not put the flow deflectors in when these pictures were taken, but it turns out that this setup works perfectly with 3 1/2 inch speakers. I used 3 inch neoprene pipe couplers with stainless steel bands and clamps to mount the speakers.

What do you guys think? I kind of like it!

SO, you will be able to control the direction of the sound.....

Can you install a grill type setup instead of the flow deflectors?

Although I did not take pictures of it, it looks good with the deflectors installed. At the angle a person sitting in the car views the vents the speakers are not noticeable at all...

Sound staging might be funky, but that is some clean work. Mikey like (but I'd debate the tech. details to death) :lol

393w, big cam, headers, 2 1/2 inch Magnaflows, 3.70 gears.... lets just say that the car has challenging acoustics no matter what!

P.S. The only thing better than being able to shred my tires at will is to do it with tunes playing!

P.P.S. Although not pictured, I deleted the exterior antenna and am using a "tune trapper" hidden antenna - works great!

I like the idea of the hidden antenna. Tune trapper, huh? Would like to get the details on it. What, where, how much, etc.

Nice setup, looks real clean. I'm curious, on your headunit, did you cut a factory style radio piece or did you buy one of those expensive aftermarket ones that are already setup for a single DIN radio?

Saved the original, bought a cheap reproduction, and thinned the sides until the DIN unit would fit. Fortunately the repros have a fairly elastic plastic (looks like nylon to me) that is not brittle.
