Posted here for Craig's benefit (tarafied1).
This is something of a side project. I bought it about 4 years ago as a flip project and then the market tanked. It had been in an accident, the battery wasn't held down, it caught on fire, and needed everything soft (plastic/rubber/fiberglass/wiring, etc) from under the dash forward replaced and a new hood and bumper.
I did all that, got the car running and inspected, and then realized with market the way it was, I wasn't going to sell it easily for what I have in it, so I have it parked at my dad's right now. It was originally Highland Green with vinyl top, black standard interior, factory air, PS, and fog lights. I robbed the air, PS and fog lights for my fastback, or at least what I could salvage from the fire, and gave it the fastback's grill and heater box and put on a manual steering. Some of the pics show the PS still on it, but the core I sent to Randy (stangerssite) was too trashed to use so I robbed the PS from the coupe. There are VIN stamps on both the engine block and the C-4, so both are original to the car, which is cool, but after talking about the car with Charles Turner, I don't think it would be a good candidate for a concours restoration, it just needs too much for that.
There is no sentimental value here, so my intention for the car is to use it to continue learning. I bought it because it is solid, it doesn't need any structural metal replaced (trunk, frames, torque boxes, etc, even the battery apron is original). I'd like to try my hand at replacing the quarter skins and shooting BC/CC. Beyond that, I may rebuild the engine (it has low oil pressure and compression but runs decent) just to make sure it runs reliably well and sell the car as a nice driver. I bought it for $1,500. I paid more than I should have, but it was a young enlisted kid who burned it up and I was trying to help him out. As-is I have about $5000 tied up in it.
Please don't mistake this for a classified ad, I'm just talking about the car.
