Mustang 50th Birthday Pictures from NC

Ted, it was nice meeting and talking you also. WOW!! That sure is a lot of pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed the whole experience of those few days, wish it could have gone on for a few more, so much to see and do.

Here's the link to the pulley's I have.

Larry when was your "stampede" photo taken?

I have to confess, I got that one off Facebook. I didn't drive the cruise, I drove to Kannapolis ahead of the cruise and the rain.

Trust me, there's MANY pics I'll be getting elsewhere! Those that I already posted were about the extent of mine. The rain really messed me up. I had planned on doing all of the tours, seminars, and vendors on Thursday and Friday with a little bit of checking out cars on Friday. Saturday was supposed to be my day to spend with all of the cars. Obviously, THAT didn't happen! I was just curious about the pic because the weather in it looked pretty good and I didn't recall seeing a large formation. The only day we left the track before 4:30 was on Sat.

p.s. I saw your car parked in the MORE area. I regret I never got to run into you! :(

My plans where similar, Saturday inside the track trying to see and do as much as possibly but because of the rain forecast for Saturday we move the inside day to Friday. Saturday was going to be spending most of the day relaxing in the MORE area, meeting and talking to people, sorry I didn't get to meet you and the others.
That picture was taken at ZMax dragway across the street before the rains came. I think it was from Mustangs Across America facebook page.

Anyone know how many Mustang were present at N.C. and L.V. 50th celebrations? I recall we had over 6,000 cars at the 45th in Birmingham.

They said 2k registered at Vegas but I doubt if that many were there...at least not all at once.

I've held my remarks about how I've felt about the splitting of the show, it's organization, cost and dissemination of information....but it's getting REALLY tough! :rant

When people bitch about shows and say they should have done this or they should have done that I just say those are great ideas do you want to organize it and take the lead. They shut up pretty fast. Planning such events isn't easy. I applaud those that do it. The details involved are tremendous.

Personally I think FORD should have taken on all three events (Charlette, Vegas and Dearborn) with professional marketing and planners but then that would be throwing marketing money at folks that already have Fords, like preaching to the choir.

I got the 6,000 number from someplace while in Birmingham. I guess I never verified that number. I was also told that the Mustangs Across America group that I drove with left Las Vegas with almost 300 Mustangs and arrived in B'ham with 670 cars. Maybe that was an overstatement too. Actually, 2,000+ sounds more in line. THX.

Mike, I've sat down and typed several responses to your post, then erased them. For me to elaborate on everything that ticked me off about how MCA handled things would result in a lengthy diatribe that in the end, would change nothing. I must point out, I HAVE planned, coordinated and managed car shows. I know what goes into it. Since it wasn't a "show" per se, there were certain details NOT necessary to address which actually eased the logistics and planning some (no judging, awards, etc). You certainly don't help planning by doubling your work (e.g. split events!). I'd be interested to see finally numbers from both events!

Other than the weather at the Charlotte event, it was an enjoyable time. With that said, it could have been soooo much better. The powers that be F'd up..period. That's were I'll leave this.

p.s. If you'd like me to elaborate on everything that WAS f'd (literally or IMO), I'd be happy to discuss it of the thread.

Oh I'm sure there was pleanty of FUBAR. And you are stating exactly what I was trying to get across. The planning process of any event has so many facets that being a participant and JUST complaining doesn't get things done. I still applaud those that at least try albeit not to everyone's satisfaction.
