More Questions

So I bought a new Holley carburetor over the weekend. I was talking with a guy who has an EFI 5.0 about my stang and hes like I got a carburetor for sale if you want... How much? 70 bucks. So I went to the atm and know I have a Holley.

Question #1. Is this the correct bracket I need for the new Holley?

Question# 2. its not carb related but rear shock related. Whenever I try to tighten down my rear shocks they spin, Ive been told to hold them but this hasnt worked. If I hold the top of the shock the bottom just spins and vice a versa. They never actually tighten. Sounds like I need new shocks... correct?

There is a squared portion on the ends for holding the schok from turning while tightening or removing the nut.
Run the nut down till it stops, but do not tighten it further.

I'm using a bracket very similar to that. Here's some pics of the install:

Im running the same throttle cable as SAC69. Looks like this is the right bracket then. Just ordered it.

It was at a local Kragen and is a Mr. Gasket item, $15, IIRC. The rear part with the two slots is not needed, I need to cut it off but it looks like your selection does not have it anyway.

Is that your old mechanical linkage (the dirty/rusty looking rod) running parallel to the cable? Why not remove it?

Trans kickdown.

69/70 Only used the cable.

Well sumbatch. Maybe just the '70 had the cable then? Because that looks JUST like my old kickdown rod. I still have it at home in a box.

Now look what I started.

Settle it already because I really did want to know if it was throttle or trans. Since this was a pic of a current driver I figured it was obsolete throttle...but you never know.

We may have to wait for SAC to come back and enlighten us.

The cable is the for the accelerator and is correct and original for a 69. The rod (which is disconnected) is the trans kickdown. Also correct and original. (at least for FMX equipped cars...) The pic was taken before he acquired the needed extension to lengthen it to fit the four barrel.

I know this because him and I discussed the fact that the rod would not reach the lever on the carb after he installed it.

+1, yes the master is correct, it's the FMX trans kickdown rod which I've been too lazy to hook-up properly.
