Hmmm, block is similar, damper looks the same, crank looks kinda the same, but those pistons are pointing the wrong way...I think.

Excuse my ignorance (or don't)....but what is the plumbing valve thing for coming off the block? Quick block drain of coolant?

Winna! I never ran antifreeze in the car since it spent most of the time at the track. Come winter time, I'd drain the coolant and those valves made quick work of draining the block.

did you use "water wetter" or any kind of additive? I use water wetter and 15% antifreeze in my 429 and it runs cooler than it did with 50/50. I've been doing this for several years with no ill effects.

Yes, I used water wetter.

Water alone is a better conductor of heat than water and coolant. Coolant's main purpose is for anti-freeze properties with lubrication and rust prevention secondary.

Huh?? Is someone using Mike's logon? I can't image those words coming out of his mouth. Sounds to knowledgeable. :pbj

that's why I do it. the engine does run cooler.
I know some tracks don't allow antifreeze because if it spills on the track it's hard to clean up/slippery. I was just wondering about the additive. I run the recommended 15% but was wondering about using no antifreeze.

When I run water, I just add water wetter. When I run coolant...no water wetter. When the car is track worthy, it'll go back to water again. HPT does not like coolant and I've never had a problem with just water.

The only problem of running sans anti-freeze would be that day that it goes below freezing and you had intended on changing the coolant but forgot.
