LED Instruments lights....color?

OK, one of this year's winter projects will be LEDs for the panel from Mustang Project.

So which color to get and is it worth getting the Ultra-bright versions?

Colors offered:
Amber
Original (whatever that is)
Blue
Green
Red
White

Not sure with the LEDs if you still use the blue colored domes with the 'Original' color offered...

Any experience with these out there?

Thanks :bowdown

Never done it, but everything I've read says the domes go no matter the color. I'm considering the red for mine, as it doesn't affect night vision as much.

not 100% relevant, but I converted the dash on my harley to blue LEDs and I love the effect at nighttime. IMO it's a fairly simply mod that yields big returns. when I get to the point of getting my interior back in the car I will either be going blue or red.

I used Green. The blue domes were removed. (sorry for the lousy picture, I should of used a tripod.)

When I installed all the lights, the outside gauges were too bright. I removed the two out most lights and it looked a lot better.

My blue 65 fb has blue! It is nice. I think your blue car would look good with either clear, blue or green. Red, though a good choice for your eyes would look out of place IMHO....

John brings up the other question.

Is it worth getting the Ultra-Bright version? Will it be too bright.

I'm leaning towad blue.

I would not get the ultra bright ones. Mine are way too bright!

I think original is a green-blue color. I think some of these being sold now are dim able as log as one incandescent is left in?

When I did my 66 I used the green ones from whitegauges.net, very happy with them :thu. Tried them with the blue filters and took them off in the end for more light. I didn't change the turn signal or hi/low beam indicator for the head lights because they are not on that long and show green or red when in use. Also tried the red, they were ok but I didn't like them as much as the green.

Too lazy to start a new thread so bumping this one and hijacking it. :Katcof I want LED so I can see the gauges better at night and since this weekend I'll be installing a stock harness thanks to Midlife, I can finally install the 66 dash I got from AzPete (that use to be JohnPro's) but I need bulbs first.

Do local auto parts stores like AutoZone or Napa or O'Reillys carry those LED bulbs or is that one of those little things you have to buy online?

If I do have to order the LEDs and wait, what's the part # for just stock bulbs for the instrument panel, No.1895 right? Or 57?
