Late model seats in the '66

So I was going to put in my 2000 GT seats I got a while back

aren't those just awesome! :thu

Anyway, it appears the tracks I have are not original mustang ones. I don't know what they are from, but they were in the '66 when I got it and it had the race seats in it. I kept the tracks when I traded seats.

From what I can tell, in order to make the 2000 seats work, I'm going to need different seat tracks. Does it have to be original 60's mustang ones or are there others out there that would work? Finding some original seat tracks might prove to be difficult. :hide

original repro tracks are available from the usual vendors. Kinda pricey, around $60 ea, IIRC. Pretty easy to adapt those seats to them with just a drill, but you won't be able to use the power function, since it 's part of the late model tracks.

Yeah, even though it would be nice to have working power seats, I really don't want to mess with it. As long as I can slide the seats forward and back I'm happy. Actually I'd be happy to have them permanently glued to the floor in one position that allows only ME to drive it. lol

I hate when my husband drives my '03 Mustang and adjusts the drivers seat and steering wheel. :rant

I do know if I got original tracks, the handle to slide the seat will have to be flattened in order to even fit these seats. :roul

Sp skip the tracks, sit them in, mark for holes on the seat base, drill, and bolt down right where you want it for best driving comfort.

tempting... very very tempting

If you need some stock seat tracks, I think I have one or two spare sets sitting in a box...

PM me your address, and I'll try and get them to the post office on Saturday. I just went through the box that they're in, so I know exactly where they are...the only part I'm not sure about, is the rod that connects to the two rails. I don't recall seeing that in the box....but granted I don't recall what I had for breakfast this morning. LOL :Katcof

I had some seats from a 95 sn95 car I istalled first. All that was required was swapping the seat tracks and drilling 2 new holes in the new seats where the tracks bolts to the seat base. I then purchased the seats from the 03 and was going to do the same. After removing all the power options ,I was going to have to do some fabbing on the 03 seat base. Instead of cutting & welding on the new seats ,I removed the seat risers and keep all my power options on the seats.

I'd be leery of removing the seat risers. They lend considerable support to the unibody structure, and these cars need all the help they can get in that area.

I agree. The risers do add rigidity to the structure. I was concerned and did some research on the web to see what my options might be. After I removed the risers I bent some 2"x3/16" flatstock and followed the curvature of the floor and welded them in from the side of the trans tunnel, along the floor pan and tied into rocker panel. I then welded in my subframe connectors for more support.
