Got the tranny back in the car today and everything is hooked up.

Going to try and fire it tomorrow for time / tune / break in.

Guess we'll see what happens, keep your fingers crossed that Herb assembled everything right and it is ready to go after break in. :pop
 
Believe me...I've had my own run of luck (or total lack of) with this one....its taken way more money and time then originally planned but a lot of that has been due to the "while we're at it disease".


But I will remember to strap the battery down.

Well...it seems to be running well now. The horse power boost is very material...of course my old motor was running like a 4 cyl. it was so warn out.

The bad...radiator is shot. Thought the radiator shop could fix the deal where the overflow attaches under the cap. But when you drive it the fluid leaks pretty bad. Going to have to invest in that aluminum radiator I guess, gee darn! :rofl But the down side is I don't really want to drive it till the new radiator is in and that is going to take several days due to shipping, etc.
 
So here is the argument I am having with myself now.

VCM sells the alum. radiator for about $220 but I'd have to wait four or five days for it to get here.

John's doesn't sell the alum ones, only the original style for about $180. However, if I went with John's I could run over there tomorrow, pick it up and have it in the car tomorrow night. Supposed to be nice weather this weekend and I haven't driven the Stang in about four weeks other than a very testing it out kind of once around the block kind of thing today.

I am very tempted to run over to John's tomorrow and just pick up an original style one to get her back on the road. Just wondering how great any benefit would be from going with the Alum one?
 
Did you install a coolant filter? If not, I'd seriously do it before you fire it up again with a new radiator.
 
Even more so! You want to keep the rust, scale and rebuild bits from getting into the new radiator.

How much time has the doctor given you to live? I mean if you'll be dead within the year, by all means put an ole stock radiator in and go have some fun. If you plan on living longer than that, you'll thank yourself for having the patience to do the right thing by waiting for a more efficient AL radiator.
 
Most AL radiators are of a 2 row design. The tubes are much bigger on an AL when compared to an old OEM style radiator.

My 347's radiator is an AL 2 row.
