It's like a reunion!

Everything I posted came from my PC or phone so no issue with not having a copy. Just sad that I had to close that door. And in the end, it's just the internet, nothing matters...once you post something it remains "out there" forever no matter what you do.

Yup, life continues to move with or without you. I do need to find all my media on there and at least copy the pics. My phone crashed some months ago and I lost 3 years of pics. I wish there was an easy way to find just the media I posted lol

That sounds like a huge job no matter how you go about it. I lost all the media I had in MRRF, CGN, Victory Motorcycle, GSXR and now VMF unless I go after it. But in reality I can live without it, not like really posted anything of importance...

Yes please.
Wish I knew how to do things like that.
There's no magic. I did it by shear hard-headedness. I copied each post and pictures into Libre Office, so the extension is .odt, but it will open right up in Word. Yes, it took forever. I was using Linux at the time, and will probably go back to it, what with my displeasure over the privacy issues with Win11...but don't get me started!
Anyway, there are 51 files (about 630MB), so I would get a USB drive and small bubble pack via Amazon, and send it USPS Ground. That should be somewhere around $17. If that's agreeable, send me a PM here with your address

When I tried to log in to send Patrick a message today (ha!) I discovered that I was "Bashing moderators".
Hey buddy! Yeah, sounds familiar:

VMF ban notification text.jpg

I've never read their terms and conditions, but I'd 100% guarantee that it states content generated belongs to the site.
It doesn't have to. For about 12 years my system auto-posts to a server first, so I always retain copyright. But better, also see below.
Wish I knew how to do things like that.
Something worth doing is to use a free service like archive.org (Wayback machine) to archive the entire site as it is. They already have several VMF forum saves and they're older, but may have stuff you're looking for. You can then go to that site anytime (even after a site folds) to see how it was on the day of the archive. It's Congressionally funded to some level, so hopefully it will last there for a while. Site owners like Mmerlinn's C4 site did this, so when they disappeared the entire site content was frozen in time for future users to read or copy as they wish. Pkb7UDc.gif

I missed you, brother! Was *MAD* when you suddenly disappeared - but of course, never heard "Why". GRRRRR

Also, shame on you for all that raucous, rude, and antisocial behavior I guess? ;)

There were several posts by others that surprised me they didn't even get a reprimand, or at least not public, But I NEVER saw even a harsh word from W427. They had to have awful thin skin, and deleted your comments so we never saw the evidence.
And the loss of that much knowledge, with NO good explanation, other than "trust me" (not happening, BTW) was the cause of much grief.

I think K had reached a point that he felt it was time to put his foot down and make an example of somebody. Teach us all a lesson, show us how things were gonna be from now on. Rapping someone on the knuckles with a ruler and giving them a two week* time-out somehow seemed a good idea to him. He chose precisely the wrong member to try that on though. K took neither note nor heed of W427's avatar which could have told him all he needed to know. W427 refused to play the game the way K expected to win it, with him returning meekly and everyone else falling in line.
Because W427 didn't come back.
And the member outrage increased in volume.
It all blew up in K's face and started a fire that still hasn't gone out. K got shelled with criticism and a volley of questions he couldn't rightly answer.
This one singular decision by K led directly to where we are today.

*That's what it was initially, two weeks. It wasn't until the outrage erupted that in a futile gesture of mercy it was shortened to one. It didn't matter. All attempts to reach W427 failed at that time as far as we know. The first week passed and the outrage didn't die out. It increased.

Rumor has it it was actually a 30 day ban, later reduced , for calling a Mod a thin skinned 'pansy'. I wish I screen shotted the post, but it is gone now. Sad what that place has become.....

I have started deleting some of my posts over there. Is there another way to do it other than editing them and then deleting the content? I can only edit 10 posts every 7 days.
Wow, its going take @dennis111 years to delete all the memes...:)

I asked the person, Michael, that helped me delete my account to wipe may gallary media. He did that. He said he could not mass delete posts, only ones that I identified that I wanted deleted.

Having deleted my account, all my info lives there under a number. That's fine, maybe someone will find it useful.
