That first picture makes me think they should've designed the cowl with a hinge. How cool would it be to get to get to the wiring from the top instead of on your back...
 
Thanks everyone. Kat deserves recognition for the prep work she did. That saved us lots of hours. She did better at clean up and spot weld drilling than a lot of body men I know. We made and welded in a few patch panels first then decided it was easier to weld the two halves of the cowl together first and then weld the complete assembly on. It came out great.

Well it's good to know I didn't mess anything up (too bad). LOL
 
I hope we took advantage of access to the inside of the dash while the cowl was off. What a great opportunity to clean up the inside, prime all that hard to get to metal, etc.
 
Definitley presents a good opportunity to check out wiring and anything else behind the dash. It will never be more accessible!
