Is it Safe?

I need to weld the tire hold down bracket in the trunk but I'm a little concerned with the gas tank being there. What safety precautions should I take before doing this? If taking the tank out is the only way I just won't put the hold down in.

I would just throw a real wet blanket over the tank and do short welds. Make sure you cover the filler neck too.

Thanks Pete that's what I was thinking, it doesn't need a lot of weld.

Gasoline in liquid form is not as volatile as fumes. Make sure there are no open venting when you weld!

The wet blanket also helps keep the fumes from spreading......but....fill the tank.
