indoor car cover

B67FSTB

The NorCal dude from Belgium
My just been painted mustang is collecting some dust and i would like any info regarding a indoor car cover.
I was thinking of a black flanel car cover with white old style ford logo.
Where is the best place to buy.

I use a $40 cover bought from Costco and it's perfect for the indoors although it's thick enough for outside.

personally i would refrain from covering fresh paint. i painted my car about two months ago now, and it hasn't even seen water yet, (except for a wet sand and buff)

I agree my painter did'nt want a cover on the car for 3 months and now i use the same cover as Sac69. actually I have my own we don't share the same one ....allthough we could cause they are both 69's I hear all of guys buy through california car cover.

+1 on no car cover for 90 days with new paint. My painter told me the same thing, because the paint too sofe and the gasses need to come out of the paint. Also, I was told to park the car outside in the sun and inside at night. The heat/contraction will make the paint cure quicker.

I also use a Costco cover with no problems. A friend of mine, who has a show-winning 67 Chevelle and details cars, says a flannel cover is not any more gentle on a paint job. Even he uses a Costco cover.

On the GTO and Red I use a cotton car cover. Shag has yet to have a cover due to it's new paint (now 8 months old).

These things are the best IMO. I made my own but they work. I put my 63 1/2 Galaxie in one for 18 months. It came out as clean as it went in. I mean CLEAN, didn't even have to car duster it off. You can drop a 2X4 on it and the car won't get hit.

I had to store the car outside. I put it under a cheapeeeeeee Pole-N-Tarp barn and it worked. Two months earlier I saw one at the Goodguy's show and was impressed. They do work great.

Sorry for the GM photo :dumas

oh oh oh guys .... you're wandering of the topic !!!!!! :mid :dumas

Thanks for your replies , gives me an idea what i am looking for. :yikes

I bought a cover from California Covers for my 66, got one of the ones that can be used inside or out. It has a little padding to absorb the tools and such I always end up dropping on the car or bumping into the car with. It works great, I just don't remember which one it is.

My painter said not to cover the car for 3 months, too, and I should only remove dust with compressed air.

However, after about a month, I went ahead and purchased some cheap king size satin sheets from Amazon to keep the dust off the car. The satin sheets have kept the dust off, and they have been very gentle to the paint.

I wish someone made a car cover out of satin or silk to use inside the garage, because it takes 3 separate sheets to cover the car, which meant I had to buy 3 sets of sheets.

Kinda of weird timing. This lady I work with told me that a friend of hers has a "chamber" for his car, Late model Shelby and that he was going to become a rep for this company. Anyway, she forwarded me a link to the website so I was checking it out. www.airflow-uk.com . I shot him an e-mail and asked what the pricing was in US, since the website is all in pounds. They also sell car covers.

Here is the reply I received if anyone is interested.

As you are probably aware we have 4 car sizes in the USA, S, M, XL, & XXL
The S Airchamber will accommodate early 911`s, Cobra's & most British 60`s & 70`s sports cars
The M Airchamber is for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mustang, Aston Martin etc
The XL Rolls-Royce, Bentley & your larger 50`s & 60`s cars
The XXL is for the Limos or motorcycle collectors that store 8 or 9 bikes.

Pricing is as follows
Size Price
S $599.00
M $699.00
XL $799.00
XXL $849.00

We can work out a Mustang Club discount or multiple purchase discount. The above pricing does not include shipping or any state or local taxes

The one I made cost under $80. I used 6mil. plastic, a 12v fan from the electrical store and a 12v adapter from Radio Shack. It wasn't movable but it sure did the trick. I used the frame from the Cheapeeeeee pole-barn-tarp thing to hold up the plastic. It looked a lot like the temp. spray booths we see folks make from timber and plastic. They are expensive to buy, I'm a cheap SOB so I just stole the idea. It had a 14X2" auto air cleaner with a chrome lid on the outside to filter the air, with the fan mounted inside using the carb. stud hole.

Yes , i know the company.
I did inquire for a car cover.
I found out that car cover kingdom in the states has a fine selection of carcovers.
Prices are almost the same as with air-flow.
