I'm loosing interest in the Mustang.......

Do you guys ever loose interest in your Mustang's? I am about to buy another car that will be a long term project and find myself less and less interested in my Mustang. I had a lifter issue this summer which is still lingering as I wait for a reground camshaft. I would normally be frustrated and eager to drive the car but for some reason I don't give a rip at the moment. It could be we are distracted by building a house and have more important things to do or it could be I am ready to fix the car and sell it. I should just fix it and drive it a little to get energized again. I am sure I will feel better about it. It is kind of weird that it is the first time I ever felt this way about my Mustang.

Do you ever feel this way?

Yep, everytime something breaks and I let it sit all winter. Come spring, I'm ready to get back behind the wheel and after the first drive, all is right again.

Yep. Just came off five years of it. I am a bit discouraged about the condition and work I will have to do on the 65.

I want to strip it down and media blast it but know if I do i'll likely never finish it.

I feel you pain, Iam waiting on a new crankshaft for my engine, and the mustang is just sitting in the garage, and I don't really miss it. But like you I have a ton of stuff going on with work and family. Iam sure once the part comes in, and the car is back on the road I'll be energized again.

I've been thru this before with other projects, and even sold one of them - I've regretted selling it, but It seemed like the thing to do at the time. At least with me, I really don't feel like driving a convertible in 100+ degree weather any way!

I've hit burn out a couple of times with my fastback when there's been a major setback. I've just had to walk away from the car for a little while and let the ole brain cells regroup. After a short time, I'm ready to jump back in and get it rolling again. I know that I'd be kicking myself if I ever followed through on any of my thoughts on selling it.

You'll kick yourself more if you sell it... Once you get it running again and start working on the new project you'll at least be able to jump in the Mustang and enjoy a bit of cruising in a classic on the days you get tired of the other project. For the 5 years I was working on the Mustang, it was great to be able to drive my tired '65 El Camino. Driving it helped energize me a bit. Now that the Mustang is done, I'm working on the El Camino and it's great to be able to drive the Mustang around...

I've run into that several times.

Thought about selling it once or twice and using the money to fix up the Trans Am.

But usually if I think about selling it the thought goes away after a drive :steer

Yep, mine has been sitting on stands waiting for me to do the floors for ... :censored well, I'm not sure. I've been dealing with the young'un and what little time I have has gone to the new love, the boat. But, I'll get back to it sometime.

I think we all have our ups and downs.
Just wait till things get better and you will find back that energy to work on your car.

A solution is to have the infamous NorCal group finish it for you. Just fly the lot of us out, first class, isle seating on the next H00ter's airlplane. Now getting us to get off of the plane might cost you a little more........

I think that you need to box up the blower and ship it down here to northern CA just to make sure that it's working properly!!!

You realize how wrong this thought is right? You might as well have said, "I sure hope they do away with all this classic rock crap and bring back KC and the Sunshine Band!". Disco Duck forever, my brotha.

Ok, so how about using the money to fix up the PT Cruiser :Mark :no

I have seriously considered trading in the Cruiser a few times on a new Mustang. However, the car is running with no repair bills and it's paid for. The wife drives it and has about a 70 mile commute 4 days a week. She is looking for something out here so waiting. If we got a new Mustang I wouldn't want her running up the miles on it and she doesn't like driving my Explorer.

Hard to give up her current gig though. She's making crazy money for working only 4 days a week.

If you're serious about fixing up the TA, I think I found the perfect one to copy. :hide :pbj :pbj

I hit a wall often too, mostly because I'm frustrated financial issues (grrr children's college costs) are preventing me from doing what I'd like for a few more years. I even occasionally think of selling and just putting those finds in the house. At least it drives, which I think is a big issue in others' frustrations. If it drives, that's a tangible result of your efforts.

Your new long-term project is like a new love, you will have a lot of energy and eagerness to be around it, at the expense of something else, the Mustang. Keep your chin up.

That poor car...whoever did that to that poor car should be hung from the highest tree around.

Now I am off to find my big gold chain to go with a great leisure suit I just found online.... :roll

Eh, it happens. I've had my car for 6 years and really don't have much to show for it, except a stripped down shell. It's either financial, unbearable heat and humidity, or both. I do most of my work in the fall and winter months, but this year will probably be out of the question since there will be a newborn in the house.
