Idiots at car shows

Man, those asshats that sit there revving up their motor really suck. We used to have an awesome weekly local car show with oldies music and raffle and a good group of car guys. Even though I was only 16-17 at the time, they still accepted me because I wasn't the kid doing burnouts in the parking lot and had done most of my own work on my 68. The show ended up getting shut down by the local PD because of the "racers" coming down there with open headers and starting them all up to try and out-do each other. They had also started doing burnouts in the parking lot on the way out.

It sucks when you have guys like that that ruin a great thing.

Attended a car show here last year with my B2. A friend Russ was parked next to me with his 68 coupe. A grandpa came by with his 4 year old grandson. We were talking about the coupe and looked behind us and the 4 year old was relieving himself on Russes rear wheel and quarter panel. Grandpa said this is the kids first and last car show. I finally got Russ to laugh after a cooling down period. Gary

:lol Oh man, I would have been pretty upset about that if it was my car. But it not being my car, that is hilarious!

The local Mustang parts guy related the best one yet! He had been to a Sunday show with his wife. He has a red 66 cvt. They went to get a hot dog, came back and a woman was changing her baby ON HIS DECKLID! Like Tarrified, his wife went off on the woman, the baby cried, etc. Music stopped and the woman put her kid in buggy and split!

:wtf

The last 2 shows I was at, I saw people on bicycles weaving between cars while looking at them. I was just waiting for one of the to accidentally scratch a car. I ask some not to get their bicycle too close to my and my neighbors car.

When did Sluggo get a red Nova? LOL Just kidding Randy. Well Maybe

Gee, thanks Gary :amaz I'm not sure what's more of an insult, being a moron or being accused of owning a Nova.

We did an indoor mall show one time (the worst) and a guy stood his kid on the decklid of a beautiful 66 convertible to get a picture of him. The kid was about 4 years old. He disappeared in the crowd before several members could get to him. It wouldn't have been pretty, if they had.

I don't get it. When I was growing up my dad taught us "respect" and we didn't even walk thru other people's grass/yard (unless we were in deep doo doo and running for our lives, but that's another story). He also taught us kids never touch another persons car. He hated when we would smear on the fogged up windows in his car and we usually got a smack on the hand for that too. We never were allowed to touch his car when it was dirty, so we wouldn't scratch the paint smearing dirt around. I have passed this same respect on to my kids, but I just don't see it in a lot of people. Door bangers and careless bicyclists I can see, don't like it but I can see it. But come on, changing a diaper on some one's car, standing your kid on the trunk lid for a photo... you have to know that is wrong! wrong on any level. :rp

The problem is that to them, it's "just a car." Sigh...
I understand that but even if it was a minivan or a PT Cruiser I wouldn't let my kid stand on it if it wasn't mine...

Exactly Craig. Nor would they stand on it if it WAS mine.

Same here. I just don't understand disrespect for people's vehicles. The day I brought my company's new 1997 F-150 to the office, one of my employees threw her backpack up on the hood. I almost fired her on the spot. I chewed her ass out and let everyone know that they would respect the vehicle and if anything happened to it they wouldn't be answering to me, they would be answering to my father (whom they knew). He had bought the truck on the A plan and my company was making payments to him.

I had no problems after that. ;)

I know what you mean. I have a company car and I treat it as if it were mine. Now rental cars, that's a different story. But I don't stand on them!

First car show my son and I attended together this little girl leaned against my car, arms spread out so her dad could take a picture. My son just about came unglued.... "DAD!!, she touched the car"... I said its no worse than the pizza grease you got on the passenger side door handle....he went and looked at both spots, pointing out what needed to be wiped down, I handed him the rag. I've let parents put their kid in the seat to take a picture....Hell, I even let Kevin sit in it once.

Sure hope you took the seat out and ran it through an autoclave!
