Arriving after long storage under leaky shed



Engine pulled. Not original...supposed to be 289 with mild cam and modified 2 barrel. Appears to have 302 or 351 heads. I had installed Shelby/Ford intake and Holly 600

My Craigslist find. Never used rotisserie

I cut the ends of the springs off to use for fabricating adapters for the rotisserie
Here are some low res pictures to start out the thread. The build was started about 1 1/2 years ago, going slow. I will try to update with some more new pics, higher res as I go along.
Things are going to be coming to a slowdown with warmer weather...grass cutting, weed eating, pool maintenance, grand kids etc.

Some more pictures. About a month later I started on the front end repairs. I installed new battery apron, frame rail patch, radiator support and torque boxes.

Floor pans were Flintstone style



replaced one floor support. Didn't have any POR so I used my trusty Rustoleum Tractor primer and paint to treat the inside of the rails. I use this on rusty
farm implements that stay outside year round in Kentucky weather. Good stuff!


Floor pans and firewall extensions welded in. I later ended up cutting out the extensions and welding in a whole new firewall.

New firewall in. I had to slit the trans tunnel and the firewall where it goes under the tunnel to get it slid into place then weld them back up.
Notice also that I welded in patch for the radio opening.



Installed new cowl assembly and cowl end panel patches.

Getting ready to install trunk floors. The yellow line is where I will be cutting out to widen the wheel well.


Here is new edge I made to weld onto trunk floor. No big deal for most people but the first time I ever made anything with my brand new
metal stretcher/shrinker.


Here I have trunk floor welded in place and slit cut into inner wheel well. I ended up cutting a second slit to get it worked out to the new
edges and then welded in patches to cover the triangle shaped openings left. So far it looks like over all width will only be increased by about
1/2 inch at most, BUT by the time I also cut and rework the front of the wheel well, the usable width will be about 1 1/2 - 2 inches.

Looking good, you've done a lot already keep up the good work. I've watched Craigslist for several years for a rotisserie but haven't got as lucky as you.

After welding in the modified trunk floors, I measured from the new edge to the wheel well seam: 5 inches. I have start modifying the front of the wheel well to measure the same, having to add 2 1/2 inches
Here you can see the first slit I made. I will move the whole edge over to enlarge the wheel well.

Here is it from the inside of the wheel well. I cut the edge off starting at the bottom
at 2 1/2 inches tapering to 1/16 inch at the top, then cut it down and welded it back on.


Looking at the inside, you can see how the edge was moved over and how
much room was gained. Now to make a patch for the triangle opening left.
I don't have an english wheel and the outside wheel wells were cut off so
I am going to use them to make the patches.

Finally got around to finishing fender well mods and taking some pictures. Here you can see where I filled in the split I cut into it and the patch I welded in at the bottom to fix some rust. This kind of shows how much width was added at the front of the wheel well.

I am going to have to cut lip off of the bumpstops or mount them on the inside of the frame rails.

Finally on its side and ready to start welding the floor pans from the bottom and start clean up there. Once all that is done, I will start paint/rust removal in prep to start quarter installation etc.
