How do I identify my transmission cross member?

As far as I can remember it came from my 69 mustang when it has a 302 and a FMX in it at the time. But it could be anything. Front the top it is an “H pattern, 3 slots in the middle with a reinforcement plate spot welded where the 3 slots are. It also has a large “R stamped on it.

Had not looked at mine for a while. I seem to remember it being identical to that. My car has an FMX in it currently.

Is it not something home made from a regular C4 support?
How is the reinforcement plate attached? spotwelded like the factory or with a mig welder?

Factory spot welds, and it looks all factory.

Definitely not an FMX from what I remember mine looking like. It's mounting tabs converged together on one side while on the other side had the H-shape. That one looks more like the C4/4spd crossmember except those had two slots and no reinforcement plate.

Just found an FMX to show you on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-mustang-FMX-transmission-crossmember_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a55bd1b7eQQitemZ250546559870QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

C4/4spd: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-1970-302-351-Mustang-4speed-Crossmember_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ad1155c02QQitemZ390054894594QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

This is correct. This is definitely what mine looks like.

Looks like a '69/'70 C4 cross member, to me. The difference from the '65/'66, is that the early years had a fulcrum point for the parking brake on it, that isn't needed in '69/'70. IIRC, the '67/'68 is like the '65'/'66, but I can't remember on them.
