Prostitution & Gambling are illegal also, but we still do it. That's just how we roll over here. Have you ever heard the saying "nothing easy is ever worthwhile?"

Does Dynacorn make coupe bodies? That seems like a lot of money to drop for a coupe setup. Even if they only make the fastback I would still imagine that is going to end up happening and someone is going to say "it's a rare mess up from the factory, it adds value!"
 
There are a lot of dumb people in the world, heck, look at me.......

.....but I don't think even I would be stupid enough to spend >15k on a 67-68 DynaCorn Fastback shell and then affix a 65-66 Coupe VIN to it.
 
I thought Dynacorn had a 65/6 FB body....I'll have to check their site. Maybe it is coming soon....

I'm not positive, but I thought they started with the 67-68 FB, then went to the 69-70 SportsRoof and there were plans to offer the 65-66 2+2.

Didn't say anything about the 65-66 2+2 but I have no doubt one will be along shortly.

I don't think I would ever pay $15-16k for just a shell. Even if you got a rusty one I don't know that you would have that much into it with metal work? Not to mention the money you save with all the other parts the car has on it to begin with.

I dunno, it's almost "a wash" in my opinion. The typical "rust-free" FB CAR will usually have some issues that need to be dealt with in order to bring it back up to an acceptable standard. What will this car cost? Anything less than $12k is usually going to need quite a lot of work. The extra parts that will come with a complete car are usually not worth re-using. Glass is scratched/fogged, rear interior panels are cracked/have speaker holes cut into them, front seats are usually shot, all chrome is normally scratched/pitted. Sure, some of the stuff can be re-utilized, but when your goal is to build a high end quality car, it's just simpler to buy a good shell and start fresh.

Use Rick, Jeremy, Sluggo or Craigs ground-up builds as examples. 98% of the original parts have usually been sold off to help finance new replacement pieces.

The end result is usually the same dollar-wise. It'll take a good $30k either way you do it.
 
I guess I'm a little biased considering I only paid $7300 for my running 428 Mach that had very minimal metal work needed. I have about $18k into it as it sits with about another $2k or so to go to get her up to 95% done.

That is an excellent point though, a lot of that stuff does get replaced. I guess my thinking was that you're better off having a seat that needs to be recovered than trying to find a nice set of seats that need to be recovered or paying the premium for recovered seats.

Where in that area around Ft. Myers are you? My wife lived in LaBelle for a lot of years. I actually charmed her away from there with my Victor Mature like scent, and got her to move to Atlanta.

We go there a couple times a year to see her family that still lives there.

If you've never heard of LaBelle, don't sweat it. It's TINY

I do know where LaBelle is. The law firm I worked for last summer had several cases out in LaBelle. Cool little town.

I'm in Cape Coral on the Caloosahatchee (say that 5 times fast!) River.
 
Thats cool, My parents have a condo right across the river at Pointe Royale near the Edison and Ford estates. I'll be down there end of Feb, beginning of March for my yearly vacation. Last year while there I was checking craigslist and came across the same type ad for a 65 fastback. Probably same clown.
 
It happens all the time. Don't kid your self.

I know of a 69 Dynacorn build that is happening right now that will magically be titled as a 69 Mach I.

I know of a rebodied 69 428CJ R code convertible.

I know of a show worthy, magazine featured 68 390 fastback that was a rebody.
 
I'm all for making sure the rare cars stick around, and some of them are unfortunately too far gone for that. But when you start getting into rebodying and this BS title game, then I have a problem with it. Especially when you start advertising it as something that it is not.
 
I am a retired cop with 30 years on the job.

Perhaps I shouldn't say it, but I will share with my Mustang friends that that ad REEKS of a sting and if you had ANY inclination toward answering it you should strongly reconsider.

As a third year law student (and I am in no way saying I know for sure X, Y or Z or anything for that matter), but what would they arrest you for? Intent to defraud? Unless you specifically tell the undercover that you have a nice car that's ready to be rebodied I really don't see how they could get you for it. Even if you did tell them there would be a lot more investigation needed before the DA files any charges against you because you could just be flapping your jaw. Again that's just my personal opinion, not in any way shape or form a legal opinion.

If it is a sting, it's a weird one and one I would suspect wouldn't net a lot in either arrests or leads. I would be interested to hear more about how and what they're getting people for with this one.
