Had to replace upper ball joint boot

Yes, though having only 6000 miles on Shag, I noticed the upper ball joint on Shag's driver side as having split. Thus finally getting off my backside, I replaced the boot.

No - he got them from me. We have had a couple split on us and I send new ones out.

I just scored a bunch of nice poly ball joint dust boots if you want them Craig.

Don't you use Moog parts? I've had more than a few boots split on me. It seems they're not as tough as they used to be.

I think I will take you up on the poly boots John. I'd rather replace these rubber ones when I have the extra time instead of discovering a split.

Mikey, it hasn't belched anymore coolant since I tightened up the lower hose clamp.

We use a lot of Moog but they split too. We had a batch of dust boots split around the time Craig got his arms and we sent out replacement boots. The poly dust boots I have will last a lot longer, longer than the ball joint is my guess.

Went out and looked at my coupe that I am taking on the HRPT. The passenger side is fine but the driver side looks like:

Guess I need to order some new boots. Maybe I will try the poly ones also.

Here is what the polyurathane boots look like. Hope you like "grab her orange" color. These upper arms are going on Red in the next couple weeks. Yes they're from John.

That's a shipping boot Craig, the rubber dust boot is under that orange cover. I'll bring 4 of the poly dust boots with me to K1 Speed. I'll bring a set of our new grease fittings too for Red.

OMG..... That is so funny. What a numb nut I am. Had I even bothered to touch the cover which is rock hard....... Yes Mark, VERY special I am. Never looked that close to the ball joint. Just figured, red, orange, er whatever. Take off the cover and whoola! Black rubber boots.

You are not the only one, I thought they was just some shipping cover and threw them away.

It's OK Craig. First time I saw one I squeezed it and thought, damn, that's one hard dust boot.

I had a customer send me a photo of it installed on the car and asking about it.
