Grandsons permit..

Made my 15 yr. old grandsons day today. He finally got off his backside and got his driving permit.....6 months late.....so I let him back the '66 out of the drive and down the street for a block or so. He was really up there. I think he sent texts about 30 people about it. lol It was dark so he couldn't go any further.

Now for the real fun of teaching him to drive on my daughters new Focus. He will get some time in the '66 but not in heavy traffic or anything. Ahhh...to be young, but look put nerves.
 
Cool Grand dad! Probably how I felt when I drove my 65 for the first time the day I got my license on my 16th B-day.
 
That's cool.
I'd let my 16 year old grandson drive, but he hasn't mastered a clutch yet. The only auto we have is PINKIE. He probably wouldn't be caught dead in her.

my son in law took my 15 year old granddaughter out to practice driving in his prized jeep TJ and some how in the middle of an empty parking lot she managed to dump the clutch from a stand still about 5 feet from a light pole with a large concrete base and smacked straight into that thing and totaled the jeep!!!!! it looked like an innocent fender bender at first glance but after careful examination it ended up being 7500.00 in damage. ooops!!! her future driving lessons have been turned over to a driving instructor.

Just let him loose. I taught myself how to drive a stick in 3 speed on the column van.... It was learn to drive it or sit at home....

why didn't you let him drive forwards? backing down the street for a block or so is a good test of coordination however.

just kidding, that is pretty cool! The kids these days still like a classic!
