Got the phone call I knew was coming

My Grandmother just had her 94th birthday in April. She'd had a series of small strokes the last year and I could tell her memory was going fast. Got an email from my Mom while I was away saying she had had 2 more mini strokes. Got the call a little while ago that Granny died while at the hospital getting checked out. Apparently she was waiting to be seen and fell asleep...for the final time.

She led a long and wonderful life and was always a happy person and a joy to be around. I had tried to be there on her birthday for the last ten years or so, but was not able to make it this year. I did call her a lot and have no regrets. She lived at home, by herself since Grandpa died in 91. Only until recently did she have Mom and Dad staying with her. I can't think of many better ways to die. Taking a nap for good is a lot better than how Grandpa went.

I'll miss you Granny.

Thanks for letting me blather on.

I will continue to say....we must celebrate their life and not grieve for our loss for it is our loss and their life to celebrate.

She had a long life to celebrate. :thu

Sorry to hear of your loss mark. Like Mike said, she had a full life and I'm sure you have lots of wonderful memories of her. Celebrate her life.

Same here Mark.

Agree, she had a long and wonderful life. I'm just relieved she died the way she did. Around family, not in pain and pretty coherent till the end. We should all be so lucky!

The crap part is getting down there. No lead time on the airlines will empty the wallet pretty fast. Small price to pay to be with family. Besides, no one else will crack the jokes that I will.

This was a couple years ago. She loved the ride in the vert I rented.

She lived a long and blessed life and you should be joyful for that. My grandparents were all dead by the time I was 30. Glad to hear se went peacefully......

Most airlines will give you a price break to attend a funeral/death in the immediate family.

What a shock! Some real intelligent words out of Mikey. But also I do have to say that I am sorry for your loss Mark.
