Got my Marti report.

I'm not to worried about the VIN either. What is anyone going to do with it?
If they want to come find me in the middle of cheeseland I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I few months ago I put the stang on Craigslist and some guy called to come look at it and my wife got paranoid because I gave him our address. She thought he would come steal it. It's insured and so is my house. Can't let it bother me.

15 years ago, if you'd put it in the paper and he called, nobody would think twice about it. But for some reason, insert the "OMGZ" of it involving the internet, and everyone assumes you're gonna get murderaperobbed.

If my wife hadn't been willing to meet a stranger from the internet, I wouldn't be married to her now.

Heres's my plate.

Anyone who wants to take it from me will expire from lead induced cranial separation.

I pretty sure I can get 30 rounds of .556 and 17 9mms to fit inside a target 10 inches around. If that don't do the trick, I'll have to change clips. :rp

I really do not have a good answer. I guess that I AM paranoid. Yes we go to car shows and open our hoods and our VIN is there for all to see. But to me the wide world web is too big. So I will drop it, admit defeat, and try not to mention it again. :shy fd

So....you think someone will travel the world for your car, but not across town.......hmmm. Only good guys show up at car shows in your area? :lol Just pullin' your chain.

Naw, dude, I didn't start the question to give you a hard time for your opinions, just trying to understand a little better. Everyone has their level of comfort. My mom refuses to buy anything online with a credit card because of all the freecreditreport.com commercials, but doesn't think twice about giving it to a restaurant waiter who walks away with it to swipe it. My grandma refuses to have a computer in her home because they can "Steal your money with those things."

Are they paranoid? Maybe so. But everyone has their comfort level. If everyone was always logical, we'd be, well, Spock. Like I said, wasn't trying to start a beat down, just wanted to discuss the reasons because I'm actually very curious about it.

I know on VMF I've seen a lot of xxxing the serial number part of the VINs, and always wondered why. That's all.

I live 3 miles from the highway on a dirt road over a hill and in a valley. Can't see us from the highway. That said, I was working on the garage and had the 65 on the driveway in order to put the lift down and because it is cold, I had the doors closed. Well the 65 is filthy. When I opened up and started to put the car back on the lift, I had to put the charger on the dead battery. (Been dead for a year). I popped the hood and noticed that the VIN was clean! Wow, the keys were in it. I live in the middle of nowhere!

anyway the car lives on the lift....So they would have to break in, move/steal the quads and mower and lower the lift which is slow and start teh car with the dead battery and then go. hehehe

So what if they have the number of my car? I am the register, owner with title in hand. They can't even take it from me on paper. Same with license plate numbers. Why fuzz them out? They are viewed when on the road anyway...
