Gonna work on Blue. May sell

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
I am considering doing some work to the 65 (Blue) in order to get it ready to sell.

I am thinking I can do all the work I have been getting parts for and then sell the car.

It will need to have the paint that is on it either sanded down or stripped and new paint, but other than that everything else is done. Well, it could use an electronic ignition system.

I am not sure I want to sell it, but I sell and get myself completely out of debt and focus my attention to the 67 (Captain America) and get it fixed and add some things.

SWMBO doesn't want me to, but I can get to one project and out of debt and then when I get to a point to do the Spitfire project I want to do, I can start to find parts and get on that.

With everything going on I just don't enjoy the Mustangs anymore. I get a twinkle in my eyes when I talk about them and when I drive one of them, but I just haven't been motivated to work on them. I just want to have one car that I can do minor things to and just drive.

I feel like I want to do other things right now. Like an awesome Jeep to get around all the back country around here. Since I am going to be home more, fishing sounds good too!

Sorry to hear you may be at a crossroads. Have you considered keeping the fastback and selling the coupe instead?

I considered selling the coupe, but the paint needs some fixing and I can not sell it for as much. Besides it is Amber's car and I will not sell unless I ask her first. so far she has not said it is ok to sell it.

She wants me to keep both, but I don't know....I guess I need to do the work and then drive it.....

I can appreciate your position and plan but honestly now is not the time to sell the fastback. As the market slowly comes back the added value gained will make holding onto it a bit longer worthwhile. Hopefully in that time you will find another way to handle your situation and you can keep it! In the meantime, no harm in getting her fixed up a bit.

I agree with that, I just want to make sure there are some options....I was just in the garage starting the Excursion for SWMBO to warm it up. I took a long hard look at Blue on the lift......I am not sure I can sell him..... He is setup so right....I just have paint and some work on the stock interior if I want stock...

Before I tear him apart and do the custom stuff to the inside, I should make sure what I am going to do.

Feedback is nice to get. I am still up in the air with him though.

If I were you I would look at the costs involved in doing the work and consider selling it like it is, sure you may get less for it but you will have less time & money invested and it would be easier to sell. I would much prefer to buy a car that is in the raw but together than a car that was doctored up!

Good driver quality cars are tough to find and people may not have the big money to buy a freshened up car right now, and in the end you make the same kinda money.

You are correct. All the work I would do is what I have sitting there, like putting in the correct dash pad, putting the stock seats back in, and re gluing the headliner in by the windshield. Oh, and of course a good bath! I doubt I would re-install the front and rear glass molding or the rocker trim since my plan was to paint it without the trim and put the GT stripes along the door.

I kinda need the therapy anyway...

Who knows. After you freshener her up a bit and do the little things like dash pad, putting seats back in, etc... you may realize that you don't want to sell.

I've been watching some cars on ebay and locally...not cars I have any interest in buying just to get a feel for the market.

My hunch is if you were to try to sell right now you would be very disappointed in what someone would pay for the car. It's a tough market / economy out there right now. Great time to buy something but sucks royally for the sellers right now.
