Giving the DirtyRed Mustang a Bath

This weekend, I decided that Dirty Red paint on my car had been dirty long enough. Mark poking fun at me mighta had something to do with this ;)

But I took advantage in a break in the rain to roll her out and scrape 5 or 6 years worth of dust and dirt off. The car is still in bad shape, but now it's a little bit cleaner.

Here are a few pictures...a tad less dingy now!

It's always nice to get the car clean.

I don't know much about your car Steve... Is it running? Is it a working project?

It may not be perfect, but whose is??
 
Dave, it doesn't run, but I could probably get it to light up in an afternoon or so. I just don't want to start it until I replace the fuel tank, and all the fuel line.

It's a basket case right now, but it will run and drive if I wanted it to. But it has I6 brakes and steering, and I won't drive it with those components in place ever again. I just refuse.

I've had the car for 17 years, having bought at auction for 1900 dollars when I was 16. It's my first car, and I swore I would never sell, and I have stayed true.

I'm not doing a restoration on it for now, but am just going for the "budget rod' sort of thing. The frame is straight and solid, and with Ryan's help, all the rusted floor pans have been replaced.

So I'm currently putting the interior back in, with Frost King (budget!) and factory sound-deadener, and then I'm going to start looking at doing the brakes/suspension/steering, etc.

I got the car to my garage back in October, and was going to start work on it, and then my wife and I did inventory and decided that getting out of debt was a much higher priority, so we are working on that, and the car hasn't seen much action. That is what I'm really waiting on right now.

I'm only about 4 -5 hour drive away. If you get ready for the steering/brakes, etc. and need a hand give me some notice and I'll make a road trip. I'll bring what ever tools you might need too. :run
the little helpers are fun also!!!
 
Steve, ya know, 'ole Sluggo looking for a 65/66 coupe project, of course it may be 17 years before he gets to it....
 
Steve, I can't believe you let your wife park in YOUR garage! I guess my wife knows better...and she doesn't want a flat from running over beer bottles... :roulette

Met Craig at our Ford show, don't tempt him he loves a road trip :tigg

I'm glad to see you used all that water for something constructive.
