gauge questions

Im in need of some aftermarket gauges and was looking at the branda gauge pod. http://www.cobranda.com/19cogapod.html Do you have to have the console for it to mount and look right? What are some other good brand gauges that look nice besides autometer? Any other mounting ideas besides the pillar?

For that pod you need a console, the 65/66 consoles did not come all the way up to the dash (I think this was for that huge @$$ AC unit). That pod fills the gap. I saved this pic because I thought it was a cool pod idea, not sure if it would work on your car though

Anyone know if I can take the ashtray out and put one of those 3 gauge metal gauge mounts in there? If so, think the larger gauges will fit?

I have that Branda gauge pod on my work bench. Give me your address and it could be on YOUR work bench. It's an ok product, but I think it's really intended to fit a Shelby console. Not so much on you standard '69/'70 console.

Have you looked at VDO gauges yet? I think they're a nice alternative to the AM's.

Which VDO? Do you have a link? Do you guys think the 3 gauge panels will fit under there?

What are some other good brand gauges that look nice besides autometer?

I really like the Stuart Warner gauges. Would like to get the "wings" series for my 65.

If you are looking for a classic look in new technology guages, the VDO Cockpit sseries are nice.

I REALLY like the VDO cockpit royale. Think Ill go with those if I can find a place to put them. I want to put them where the ashtray goes just need to find out if I can fit a gauge panel in there or not.
