Gas charged lift supports for the trunk

I've been toying with this project for a while and decided I will give it a shot this winter. I searched here and there (wink wink) and found some discussion a few years ago about a kit from Aeroform that connected to one lid support and the floor, I looked at their website and it's no longer listed.

Mu idea was to connect the support to the dividing wall between the truck and the passenger compartment, thus keeping the little valuable floor space available clear. I have a catalog from AMS Automotive that gives the dimensions and mounting description for each replacement support they make. Missing however if the lifting capacity, so I'll have to contact them with a list of supports that fit the space I have and work from there.

Does anybody have any idea how much a 65-66 fastback trunk lid weighs?

Thanks, you positioned it just where I thought would be best, mine on the other side since I'm carrying a spare tire. Now it's just figuring out how much it weighs and the compressed and extended length. McMaster Carr has these to, they also have the mounts in various configurations.

Look it up on one of the on-line sources and see what the shipping weight is. the caarton and packing has to weigh about the same as primer, paint, molding and letters...
