Flywheel question

Yep it will work fine. Just make sure you have the right bellhousing for the flywheel you are using. There are two different size flywheels. One has 157 and the other has 164. If you do not have the matching bell your starter will not work.

definitely make sure the number of teeth are the same...other than that, bolt 'em up.

Thanks for the replies!

I have a slight vibration @ about 2200 rpm and was told by someone that my older flywheel paired with the newer crank was the problem. This vibration is with the original Harmonic balancer.
I changed Harmonic balancer only to have the vibration get slightly worse and a different rpm range (3000). I put the old original back on for now.

When you say "newer crank" do you mean one that is balanced 50 oz? Or just a replacement 28 oz balanced crank?

I meant newer than the 68 crank the flywheel was unbolted from. My current crank is the original in my 71 engine and has been taken to .10

Then it's a 28 imbalance, which is what your dampner is, which is what your flywheel is. My guess is your vibration is in the drive train (transmission, u-joints, drive shaft).
