First outing for 2011

Being that I work at home (unless I am flying out to see customers), I would only drive it on weekends and the occasional week night cruise, etc. I'm sure I would hit the street more often than originally posted but not sure that admitting that helps with the frustration much!

So how much time did the car sit idle? Did you ever start the motor? Did you keep the tank full during storage?

It sat from roughly November(?) to April 2nd.

Car was covered with a fabric car cover & then ovelaid with plastic to "try" to minimize the metal dust, from grinding, etc, settling on the car.

Tank was probably a little over 1/2 full. I filled it before going to Bob V.'s house, to help install his exhasut, & added my fuel stablizer so it would get through the system.

Before start up I changed the oil then disconnected the coil and whirrled the engine to get up oil pressure (and probably fuel pressure too). Hooked the coil back up, she canked a little bit more and then popped off.

Yeah know, if you add fuel to the carb vent tubes, pump it a few times it should light off immediately.

Well, at least that's how my engine works [nb]the few times it's not in pieces[/nb]

I fully realize that fact. But some of us over compensate & double up on scoops.... :roll

And that scoop is a MF'n :censored PITA to take off & put back on.

So I let it crank a couple extra times.

I guess I could have used some ether and sprayed into the scoop...

Only if you want to be known as a Dumba$$ instead of a Bada$$.

If I had to store a rig that long I would fill the tank 100% to help minimize rust. I would also add a bottle of Sta-Bil. Study up on it.

Not a bad idea :confu ( for a kali guy :bowdown )

I did add Sta-Bil; that's why I said I added fuel stabilizer.

And as far as "topping it off". It's a 41 year old tank. I imagine it probably already has rust in it. That's what I rely on my fuel filters for as well.

And I remember a while back you sent me a pic of a tank that you had cut open.
How rusty was that one? I'm just curious to be curious.
