Fender rolling tool question......

I used it on the HP TV Mustang, and it worked great!

I was wondering how well it would work on a painted Mustang? I'm kinda afraid of the paint cracking on quarter panels above the wheel, and where they attach to the body.

Anyone used this thing on a painted car, how did it come out? If it didn't crack anything how did you do it?

I used it on my 5yr old paint and only cracked it on one side. I used the heat gun to soften the paint on the other side and it did not crack (fronts only).

I used it on my 1/4's and the 8-year old Miracle single-stage paint did crack, I did not think to try and heat it up beforehand though. It's only noticeable if you get down to look up into the wheel well area.

+1 I used Johnpro's fender roller a few years ago on Red after being painted. I did not heat up the paint which I wish I did. Nevertheless, the paint only cracked in a couple places on the inside of the fender lip so the typical smuck will never see it.

Alright, my sh*tty vision haunts me again, and yes, I'd like a little cheese with my wine.

Eastwood sells one and has a video/reviews

I used a borrowed one on my '67 but the paint was already shot so I wasn't worried and it did get cracking w/o heating the paint but I have no idea how well the paint was applied in the first place, might be original.
What I did notice, especially on the rear is that it wanted to push the fender out at the top (bow) as there was nothing to push from the outside to offset the tools push. I had to use a small rubber/nylon mallet to get the tabs that are there to mount chrome fender trim before rolling as the tabs are double steel. I'd tap the tabs under as much as I could before rolling and then work them as I went.

Thanks, that what I needed to see. I bought stuff years ago to make one and forgot how it was made. I'm going to try to make one.
