Extra dumb console/shifter question....

I've mentioned before that I don't care for the long, stock console that occupies the middle of my 67. If I were to remove it ( and store it), could I switch to a simple shift cover without any modification?
Replacing it with one of these, that is:

That is a easy swap, you will need the mounting plate that attaches to the floor. Rich.
