Engine Dying Randomly

Measure voltage going to the coil + when the car dies (leave the ignition key in the run position momentarily to check and don't forget to turn it off once the measurement is taken to avoid burning out the Pertronix unit). IIRC the Pertronix needs more than 8 volts constant to run reliably. If your wiring from the ignition switch has too much resistance, as the wire heats up voltage may be falling below 8 volts that the Pertronix needs, and it craps out. Bypassing the pink resistance wire between the ignition switch and the coil may provide you with a solution.

I would get a set of points and condenser and try that. If the Pertronix is bad, the points will work good.
+1. The fact that it runs better in cold weather screams "electronical junk cutting out when hot" to me, and it sounds like the Pertronix module is a very likely suspect for that at this stage.
