I run a 16:1 PS box, 14.5” steering wheel, 245/45/R17 tires (32 PSI) and low speed steering sucks. I am leaning towards EPAS as the cure. Please share if/when you do conversion.I would like to add Electronic Power Assist Steering before the Power Tour. I noticed CJ Ponies sells a kit. Has anyone used this kit? Thoughts?
You will most likely like it . Even with a 6 cylinder parking or slow moveing is still a bitch with stock steering even worse when you loose that 16" oem steering wheel . I have a Prius unit in my 67 vert . Mine is a little more than i want at any speed around 70 or so . Way too easy . When i have time i plan on putting something together to take it off line at about 2000 RPM.I have a Corolla unit in my garage. I need to get off my ass and make it a priority.
It should be more speed sensitive rather the rpms of the engine IMHO.You will most likely like it . I know but once tha car is moveing i don't need it . I drove my vert from my daughters place down to my house awile back when i had fuel pump issues. No assist since it only powers up when the switch is on . Drove like a normal Mustang that half mile or so down to my place. Had me a little worried since i had not did anything like that before with it. Plus the road don't just fall straight down the hill .,couple of turns in it .It should be more speed sensitive rather the rpms of the engine IMHO.
I know what your saying but once my car is moveing i don't need it at all ,i don't think . I can still muscle the steering wheel around now even with the 14" wheel .& have . Might not all way be that wayThats what I meant by speed sensitive.
By low speed more assistant and with jigher speed , less or no assistant.
