Electric exhaust cutouts?

Look for someone that has experience with these. How fast do they open, any leak and are they other types that can be automated. Thinking about using one behind a turbo and before the muffler and dump it to the ground.

I don't think its healthy for your turbo as I think your turbo needs some exhaust backpressure so the turbo rpms don't overref ??? :confu :confu

I am using low profile DMH electric cutouts. Top quality and great to work with. I can't recommend them enough. I would estimate they open in about 3 seconds. I have not noticed them leaking at all.

I have always thought that the closer the exhaust outlet is to the turbo the better. Anyway, are there any gates that release VERY quick, I have thought about wiring the gate into the TPS via a micro switch. Also I'm not sure how a change in the exhaust pressure will or could effect the tune. I know on some factory ecm's it will make the engine run rough and cause a stall after it comes out of boost.

When the flow is increased, it could give the o2 sensors a fit and throw the a/f ratio off. Depends on how close the cutouts are to the sensor.

Make sure the wastegate is up to handling the increase in flow.

Probably run a speed density with 02 control under 3k.

I saw a new show on Discovery HD yesterday... "All Girls Garage". They were working on a chevelle cowl induction hood where they were making the flapper work off of a servo that is controlled by a TPS... I didn't see the end of the show so I don't know any more details, but it sounded like they were mimicing a fly by wire setup. Maybe you could build your own using throttle body servo.... Just isolate the servo from the hot pipes.

I've got the DHM oval cut outs as well. Great people to work with, and you can tuck the oval shape very tight when you do your exhaust.

There is not a day that goes buy when I don't play with them, it's addicting! No leaks, and it takes about 2 sec to fully open. My neighbor asked me that question today, so we counted as I opened and closed them.
