Door stuck

Ok so ive been having a bit of a problem as if late the mechanism in my door keeps getting stuck.. The first time it was jammed with the door open and took me quite a while to get it unjammed.. This time the door was closed i locked the door now it's jammed again with the door closed not good.. Any suggestions what to do? Can you buy that mechanism from vendors?
When I get back from vacation I know this is going to be a PITA

You will need to remove your door panel , then try to spray your lock with some wd-40 alot of the time your rods get stretched so just pull on the rod and it should open. Rich.

When you do get it open, I'd pull the latch mechanism and inspect it closely. If one of the pivot pins is loose it could act like that.

If that's the problem, you'll need to replace it.

Shortly after I bought mine, the driver door got stuck closed. Close inspection/fiddling with the panel off revealed there was one moveable part of the latch (IIRC a 1" long lever section?) getting wedged against another part and jamming the whole mechanism. The latch assy was basically worn and the excessive tolerances/slop/movement of the pressed bushing (?) in this one part caused the issue. I should have replaced the latch but I found that simply tying several loops of thin bailing wire around the loose part and anchoring it to another close part opened up the tolernaces enough to solve the problem. Sorry I can't be more specific and I'd rather not remove the panel for an image. I know it sounds mickey-mouse but it still works for me, 5+ years later. If you are having a similar problem and you've already adequately lubed the latch, replacement may be in order.

I found out the hard way that the latch can also become jammed if the inside unlock rod and the door handle button are not adjusted properly, these connections to the latch are both threaded. If they are not adjusted "out" enough relative to one another, they will cause a conflict in the latch and possibly jam.

Removing the door panel on the closed door is a PITA because the upper cover has a phillips that is very close to the dash pad when the door is closed. Good Luck.

Just got back from vacation now I can try and screw with this.. I did find new door mechanisms to buy.. I'm going to go that route because I really don't want this to happen again . Any suggestions on how to change it?

Remove the door panel. Roll up the window. Fiddle around with the latch mechanism until the door opens. Disconnect the clips securing the actuating rods to the latch mechanism. Remove the three screws on the rear face of the door. Remove the latch mechanism. Installation is the reverse procedure. Be sure to grease up the new/repaired latch mechanism with a nice heavy coat of white lithium grease.

Here is a tip for you, I always soak my locks in a gallon of carburetor cleaner over night, then pressure wash them the next day and pack them with grease. Rich.

Most parts stores have them. Got mine at Napa, It even has a metal basket in it . Hey, do any of you guys have a job or did you all marry wealthy? You sure spend a lot of time on this forum. :rofl
