I've seen an increase in this area of people that I recognize their ads because it's always the same number and general part of town that are buying up cars and parting them out. Kind of pisses me off too be honest because some of the cars they buy are more than capable of being restored. I see no problem with parting a car that is too far gone but when it could be restored you are taking a classic off the road forever.

There is one local guy in Conroe doing that with Mustangs and another over by Hobby airport doing that with Trans Am / Firebird / Camaro type cars.

Guess the silver lining if there is one would be if a car is off the road forever it makes our cars more rare.... :wth

They think there is more money in parts than the whole unit.
The same thing I ran into when buying my Mach1 as it was advertised as a parts car not complete.
When I went to look it over it was minus the eng/trans and rad only.
The fellow had made a list of all the parts of it and (to him) what the parts would sell for each.
With his figures the total possiable would be about 12k where as the best offer he had gotten for the whole car was only 4k.
Now after haggling and alot of back and forth and finally convincing him how long it may take to get to 12k for the parts, We settled on 6k for the complete car.
