Differents in trunklid springs ?

B67FSTB

The NorCal dude from Belgium
Could it be possible that the torsion bar from a 67 fastback's trunklid differents as from a 68 fastback ?
If so , what do i need to change over to the later style because the torsion style , i don't like.Thx

Bruno,
Without thinking too much about this issue I'd expect just getting two 68+ trunk hinges with built in springs.

On my 1966, I found when adjusting the trunk lid to the body, there was an awful lot of tweaking that could be done to keep the alignment and lessen the torsion rod tension. On Laurie's 1968, the tension is extremely high, and I suspect the same kind of tweaking I did would alleviate that tension.

Yes, it is a pain to adjust, and best done with the tank out and working from within.

So, There is a differens !?
Anyone a pair that is laying around?

Are the hinges different between 67 and 68? I know that 67 used torsion rods and 68 used the springs, but are the hinges themselves of a different design?

I have a set of '68 FB torsion springs laying around if they'll work on your hinges.

To my knowledge the entire hinges differents.
67 fastbacks hinges uses tension rods while 68 fastbacks uses spring type hinges. So the hinges are different.
A picture tells thousand of words.Have one?

I will post pics of Shag's trunk hinges tomorrow. Mustang's Unlimited catalog indicate the same hinge. I don't see how this can be.

Here's a link & pic of the Scott Drake reproduction hinges. Sounds like the 68 spring hinges are a direct replacement for the tension rod 67 hinge setup.

I have looked over those catalogs for years now and never noticed the difference in the hinges.
I have been into the mustang hobby for 15 years now.

You are never too old to learn !!!

Your 68 fastback is probably been made late 67.Somewhere they changed the construction of the hinges because it is a pain in the a$$ to align the trunklid .

I always thought the hinges were different as well, but according to all my catalogs, there is only 1 part number for both 67&68 and the pics show the 68 spring attached.

Bruno, If needed, I can still take a pic of Shag's hinges.

Craig

Its OK Craig , you already did enough for me.Thx.!!!
I don't want to be a pain in the ( your) A$$ !! LOL

Dave

Thanks for the offer but the hinges from both years aren't the same .
The spring cannot be attached to a 67 hinges built for tension rod.
Appreciate the offer Dave !!
