Craigslist - old Fords/Mercs

A friend of mine has a '70 RX7 Cougar convertible with tilt away wheel, etc.

It's been sitting in his garage for years waiting for him to get around to restoring it.

He sold his "extra" house where he was storing it and has stored the Cougar for the time being with a mutual friend of ours.

He asked if I wanted to buy it and gotta admit I'm tempted but no idea where I'd store it and / or when I'd have time to restore it...car is all there / all original but needs to be restored pretty much from bumper to bumper.

I was looking at a 70 Cougar for sale years ago before I bought the Mustang, and the guy had another car - a solid 1970 Eliminator with a Boss 302/toploader in Competition Gold with the houndstooth interior - stashed in his garage. Rust free, but the paint was worn. Unfortunately it was out of my price range at the time, to my eternal regret.

I always keep an eye on the local Craigslist. Never know what your going to find.

No, you don't... and chances are I don't need it / can't afford it / don't have any place to keep it. But I look anyway :p

Checking my local CL is a daily ritual. As stated, you never know what you'll find. Recently a pretty decent '68 coupe was posted. Yeah I know, it's a coupe. However(!), it's a J-code 302 4v with a 4 speed and had an asking price of $5k. It was a rolling rust pile either. If only I coulda talked the wife into letting me get another car....oh, and the 5k to buy it!!!

That 70 MAch 1 looks decent.

Question on the '68 CS....wouldn't there be exhaust cut outs in the rear valance?

I know where there's a '65 Mustang Coupe project looking for a good home... The owner doesn't care much for strangers coming by the farm so CL or Ebay has not been used... He started this about 15 years ago and made pretty good progress until he bought his Fastback...

Rebuilt 351W
Rebuilt C4 AT
New gas tank
All new suspension
All new steering
All new brakes
SSBC Front Disk Brake kit
All new wiring (including Electronic Ignition wires)
It was intended to be White Exterior with Solid Red Interior so most of the new interior (carpet, steering wheel, seats, are solid red)
Everything is there, though not everything is new...

I was in Galveston yesterday for meetings.

Coming home parked on the side of the Strand was a 390 Fairlane. Looked to be about a '67.

If I hadn't been with co-workers I would have stopped and asked if it was for sale.

Looked to be in decent shape...some rust and needed a paint but it was presentable.
