Larry Shinoda is somewhat of a legend in design circles. He helped Zora design the 63 Corvette and later went on to Ford and helped design the Boss 302 cars. Much later in life he ended up opening his own design firm and did aftermarket designs and some for Ford and GM. The Boss Shinoda was one of those. I personally have never been a fan of the graphics package he put on the cars. I have heard rumors that they're getting ready to a release a 2011 Boss Shinoda on the new platform and using that ridiculous 5.0 coyote motor. I don't recall what was special about the level 1's, but I think it was just some ground effects, graphics and a few performance/suspension mods. I have always loved that tangerine orange color though. Cool find!
