Cool Rides

well I think this is a neat idea and that is a cool ride for sure.

My inspiration is a couple of cars. I have always wanted a 68 GT 500 KR convertable in red. Since I knew that would never happen and my first car was a 67 coupe, I fell in love with the two coupes Shelby made. Little Red (67), which was supposedly destroyed and the 68 Green Hornet (which survived). Both Big Block cars and the Green Hornet even had Fuel Injection and IRS!
the real Little red:

Shelby even had some coupes in Mexico for road racing

Ole Carrol himself even made a replica of the Green Hornet (to auction of course) called the Black Hornet:

and of coarse the Eleanor car from Gone in 60 Seconds remake...

I bought a VHS tape back in the late 80's of some SAAC open tracking at Thunderhill. There is one part where it showed a GT350R starting up to head out on track. I remember sitting there, replaying that R model starting up over and over. That's when I decided I was going to find me a 65 or 66 and build it up to open track.

I still have that tape, but no player to watch it on anymore! No need for the tape though, now I can just go out into the garage and listen in real time :pbj It was a long journey, but well worth it.
There can only be one "first time" on track, but I still get that cool, satisfying, anxious, excited and proud feeling everytime I fire that beast up.

Did you steal the extra keys to my '70 when you were over last??

No, besides.....you said "B" keeps them in her purse, right next to your Knuts.

Have a look at my build tread in the "members build threads" section...

Still have a long way to go but hoping for an early summer 2010 debut.

I've seen it in person too at the 45th, it was already black. Didn't get to ride in it though! Dave's other Stang was there too. He does good work!
