Carb's Here!

I love Holley carbs, I have had them on about everything I've owned except the EFI cars. That looks like a cool carb.
 
I have been biting my tongue.

I hate Holley carbs. Well, I hate anything not a double pumper!

Both my Edlebrock carbs worked great right out of the box! After 7 years now the one needs to be rebuilt, but the one on the 65 is perfect.

So, I guess to each their own. I would like to see the reviews on the Summit carb though. They usually only stand by good products. The only Holley that ever worked good for me was a double pumper all mechanical!

Sorry guys if I am a minority here.

  • Idles 300% better

You're not alone. I've seen them work great, but they can be a pain in the a__ to get working right. I got rid of mine and went with the summit. Edelbrock was the first choice until I saw the summit & it's reviews. I picked mine up for 219 on sale. Can't beat it.

I read somewhere (CarCraft, IIRC) that annular discharge venturis work better for street small blocks. That's one of the reasons I went with the summit - it's similar to the 4100 in that respect.

So far, it's worked perfectly. I even had it out of the garage today, cranked right up (first time in several months ... sigh).
 
I've had an Edelb.600 elect. choke for about 10 years and it has worked great on everything from the original 289 to an 1980 302 and now the rebuilt 1990 5.0 HO. Starts easy hot or cold, never a hiccup! :)

Don't know if you guys know it or not but Holley made that same carb back in the early 90s. They dropped it because of alot of problems with it. Since the base and the main body are one piece if you have something go wrong with it like warpage you throw it away. A friend of mine had one back in the day and had nothing but problems with it. Hope they got it figured out now. Keep us posted on how yours works out.

yeah, I got two of them sitting in the garage - one spread bore, and one square bore.
