Can't lock my driver's side door

Well, actually I can, if I don't mind crawling across from the passenger side, and working the door panel loose from the inside with the door shut... and fumbling around with the latch mechanism in the door to get it open!

:rant

I almost couldn't get the passenger side open either!

Yes, I have new door latches on order...

I'd see if I couldn't just lube up the originals and keep them installed. The aftermarket latch I tried on a previous 65 was crap in comparison to the original.

Leave the windows down and crawl in.....

Ha! If it was an old charger, I would! Ok, I wouldn't really.

I tried. No go.

Everything is smooth & easy until you lock it & shut the door. Then it will only open by manually unlatching it from inside the door. Same deal if you already have the door shut & lock it from inside.

I have a similar problem with the D/S lock on mine. In my instance, it has more to do with the switch connecting rod length. I just can't seem to get it "just right."

What I do is shut the door first, then use the key to lock it. Maybe that will work for you?

Tried it every which way. Once it's locked, it ain't opening :shrug

On the plus side, it's the perfect excuse to install those power door locks I have laying around...

I had the same problem with my drivers door. I changed the latch, because everytime I locked the door it wouldn't open back up. Everything worked out good after I put the new one in. Just make sure the latches work good before you put the door panel back on. My dumass didn't do that.
