My final update to this ridiculous screed.
Saw my oncologist for the last time today. We expected him to look at the docs and cancer center in Tahlequah and gives us his thoughts on which to see there. Instead he said “You don’t need to get yearly checks anymore” It’s been 10 years since diagnosis and the word Cured was never in the conversation, but he used it today!
He said I didn’t think you’d ever see ten years and that I definitely beat the odds. It was weird walking out of his office knowing we may never see him again!
Time to move on from being a cancer patient and just be a regular asshole again. It’s what I’m best at anyways.
End of story.

Congrats and I am there with you. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013. This past January at my annual checkup with my urologist he said that he does not need to see me anymore. Just continue getting a yearly PSA test and have your doctor check the results.

I caused a heck of a controsversy at the last place with this but i have to say it . Nothing is impossible for God . I've seen people that the Drs said were going to die from things includeing cancer who did'nt die .
Treatment is advanced a lot better today than ever . All any of us can do is offer our support & lift you up in prayer .
You have a positive attitude to your situtation & are doing your treatment . Praying for your recovery & hopeing we both are here for a lot more years . Seems you have friends of the same mind set all praying for the same thing .
Put your faith in God & know he is the ultimate healer . Maybe we will talk again about better things.

What a nice surprise I just had… I looked at my throwaway yahoo email account I use for a lot internet stuff and saw there was a Stangfix one. Clicked on it and was brought to the the first page of this thread. Oh crap- msell and then ford dude both announce they have cancer! Then I notice the dates are from 2015 and there are 40 pages so I skip to Last page and they are both cured! Sorry you guys had to go through that but it was only a minute or so for me!

I too am under "active surveillance" for another 13 months. At 5 years clear I am done, but don't think they use the word "cure" for melanoma.

My brother-in-law discovered he had Stage 3 (originally called Stage 4) colon cancer at around 55. Had an operation to remove several feet of his lower goodies, radiation, chemo, wore a colostomy bag for about a year. Survived and is doing fine, made it past his 10 year mark now but still goes to have his scans and the periodic colonoscopy. Now his older sister and my wife (younger sister) will have to have them every 5 years until age 70 to be sure. I turned 50 last year and need to have one. I fart like a goose around the clock and already have blow-outs on a nealry daily basis so I should be easy to clean out. I told my wife to be sure and bring her phone for recording to my recovery room so I can see if I can set a record for the longest fart. I'm not looking forward to it but it's probably a good idea to get checked out and it beats going through what bro-in-law did.

Glad to see someone besides myself has seen one of those your done seranios not come to pass.
Don't sweat it the procedure is'nt squat . The prep is the worst part . And i think my son told me they have something else now that works but is'nt so bad .
But even with the other it only like the worst case of diarrea you ever had in your life . But Its over pretty quick .
Those procedures where they put you under are bad for me i don't wake up so easy .
While we are talking about stuff like this my advise for all your guys 45 or older have your doctor check your PSA levels. If you don't all ready . Might get the jump on a prostate problem . I've lived with one for about 45 years . Multiple biopseys with a targeted area after an mri last time allways looking but thank god nothing so far .
You guys take care of your bodies ,your going to be in there untill the end . We have way better medical stuff today than even 4 or 5 years back .
