Bending sheet metal?

I want to do a Bubba repair of the battery tray on one of my Mustangs. How do I go about bending a piece of sheet metal to fit the fender apron area? This is a small patch, and it is only temporary, until I can have it fixed properly. Do I put and edge in the vise and bend it? Some sort of clamps?

You can use what ever works for you. A vise is nice, or clamp it between two blocks of wood. I would assume you are just going to use a thin gauge sheet metal? It should bend pretty easy. If its thicker stuff, some times heat will help. I've bent up to 1/4 inch with a propane torch and a vice with good results.

IIRC, it's 22 guage. Just need to make a couple of folds so I can rivet it over the fender apron, then bolt the battery tray back on for some extra support there.

Thanks!
