My 77(I think) year old grandpa took me to look at a Mustang in a barn that he seems to have a little bit of interest in. I didn't have a lot of time to look it over completely, plus the only light we had was a flashlight.
He was asking me what I thought it was worth, but I'm not sure as I haven't really been following the values in the last few years. Here's what I know:
Warranty Number: 6F07T722851
Year: 6 1966
Plant: F Dearborn, MI
Body Series: 07 2 Door Hardtop
Engine: T 200 1v I6
Unit: 722851 722851
Miscellaneous Vehicle Data
Body: 65B 2 Door Hardtop, Pony Interior
Color: Z Sauterne Gold Metallic
Trim: 68 Lt. Ivy Gold Crinkle Vinyl and White Crinkle Vinyl, Pony Interior
Date: 23G July 23, 1966
D.S.O: 27 Cincinnati
Axle: 2 2.83:1, Conventional
Trans: 6 C4 Automatic
There is bondo in the quarter panels, but everything else look pretty solid and mostly original as far as the body panels and interior are concerned. It has aluminum 5 lug wheels, so someone upgraded the front brakes(but not the master cylinder, still single reservoir) and rearend. It must at least have a 8" rearend in the back, I imagine. The engine is now a 289/302(has a 289 sticker on the air cleaner). The trans is automatic still. The interior looks fantastic with all the woodgrain, console and pony interior intact. The front sway bar looked on the small side, so I'm guessing not all the V8 suspension was put on the car. The engine compartment looked really solid and rust free, but it's hard to tell what the car might hiding since the quarters have the bondo I mentioned. This car looks like it would take only a little work to get back on the road, the usual purging of the gas lines, brake check, oil change, etc. My grandpa said he knows the car has been sitting at least 5 years, but not really sure how long.
I wish I had pics....maybe next time. I thought I would have more light and only took my cell phone! D'oh! Any ballpark figures on how much it might be worth? The only thing that makes it special is the luxury/pony interior.
