At your "car" limit? I know I am...

Every now and then I take a look at my hobby and wonder how I got in so deep. Usually this happens when I get an insurance bill, or I want to stuff something into the garage only to realize I cant because there's no room. This happened again this weekend.

I own 5 vehicles, 4 of which are toys, and the one that's not; it's a 3/4 ton truck to haul the toys around on a trailer. It costs just to keep tires on these things!

So how big is your "problem"?

At the moment I have the Mustang plus the wife's DD and my Explorer. We have a two car garage so my Explorer lives on the drive way and rarely sees the garage.

I have kicked around getting a storage unit to keep the Stang in when I get it painted then buying a new project of some sort to keep at the house and or drive around as a beater car. For example, a buddy of mine owns a bunch of Mustangs but found a really great deal on a 60's model Fairlane about a year ago. It had a fresh rebuild on the motor just needs interior and paint work so he bought it and drove it home from Louisiana. The down side to that is I would be afraid I'd never drive the Mustang.....besides I'd have a hell of a time talking the wife into that idea, LOL!

Eventually I plan to buy several acres in the sticks and build a bar for a workshop / storage place...if I ever pull that off then I might add another toy.

What exactly would you accomplish working in a bar?

But related..... My Spring plans have me building a "bar" on my property.

I try not to think about the whole "toy" thing, too depressing. State Farm insures our home, our lives and 9 registered/insured "vehicles" (cars, boat, harley's and trailers). Sending the check off to Hagerty for the 10th vehicle, my Mustang is a cake walk.

My oldest son is currently living in our guest house. He adds 3 more vehicles (mustang/truck/bike) and his live-in GF adds an '01 mustang. That totals out at 14.

No such thing. I'm currently lookin' for a 66 coupe to give to the wife to drive. I'd say I was close when I had 3 mustangs, plus a couple of other vehicles, and a small garage.

Opps...meant to say "barn"....I wouldn't want to go through the head ache of getting the liquor license for a bar.

I liquor license is only required if you're selling beer/alcohol. I'll just be buying it and drinking it myself so no license will be required.

Haven't hit the limit yet. We've only got our DD's and one mustang. Once we move further out in the sticks, I'll build a shop to house my mustang and her 67 fairlane, which is currently living at the inlaws.

That's certainly the better plan.

My alcoholic dad years ago decided to open a bar, guess if you drink your career in the toilet then it would be an obvious choice for a new "career". First weekend the bar was open he had TABC crawling all over them because some guy got drunk and was trying to shoot his girlfriend on the front porch.

I think I hit my limit when I had 2 Mustangs, and both my kids lived at home and had one a piece. Having 4, 3 of which were daily drivers was a royal PIA.

Now, the kids are gone, and we're down to a combined 3 Mustangs, none of which are daily drivers. Life is good now.

Technically I only have two licenced and insured vehicles, my 67 Mustang and my 01 F150. I gave my DD 92 T-bird to my 19 year old son last year. One of the perks to my job is a leased company car. I have an 08 Dodge Caravan right now for a company car (yuck). My wife drives it most of the time. When it hits 60,000 miles or 3 years I get a new company car and it has just over 50,000 and I've had it 2 years. I had a Grand Prix GT before the van, don't know what I'll get next (whatever is available in a pool). Anyway, I could use another toy. My wife wants a fastback 67/68 or a black 07 Shelby GT. I'd love to have a newer Stang but I don't want any payments so I've been looking for a project 67/68 FB. They are just way too much money right now. We have discussed getting a Fox body because you can get a lot for your money right now. I do have an old (77) motorhome on a 1 ton Ford chassis with a 351 and a partial 57 Chevy (junk) but they don't count as they are sitting out on my dad's farm out of site out of mind.

I almost forgot to mension, I have the POS 67 coupe from Dave in the garage with my 67 and a buddies 67 in the driveway so the van and the truck sit outside.
hmmm, maybe I should make the POS into a FB instead of a trailer?!? nawww...

My limit was 2 but after not driving the coupe for 4 years I sold it 1.5 years ago.

So, one is my new limit. No real desire to increase the herd.

Right now I am at 4. 67 in the garage not going anywhere, my 07 Mustang, the SWMBO's 96 AeroStar and 02 F150. I am optimistic that I will have another work van soon bringing the total up to 5. But the daughter will be driving soon and she really needs her own car. So 6 in the future for me. fd

I have a four car garage filled to the max. 2 DDs Wife has a Hemi Grand Cherokee and a Volvo C70 for me, the Stang and our boat. No other toys though.

I have 4 cars in my family, 2 are toys. Both the toys are in the garage, and our DDs are in the driveway. One of our "exciting developments" when we bought the house was that we no longer had to park our drivers outside. Now we could go out into the warmer garage and not be in a freezing cold car. Then I shipped my mustang home, and a little later I bought my wife an 89 VW Cabby, her dreamcar in HS. Now we both trudge out in the cold morning and beg our heaters to warm up.

Recently my wife flat out told me now more cars until we either buy a house with more car storage, or I build a shop out in our woods. Since neither are likely to happen for a while, I guess I'm at my limit.

That's fine, The two cars I have now keep me broke and busy enough.

I've got five right now - 04 Ram 1500 (DD & tow vehicle), 02 X5 (wifes DD), 91 M5 (toy), 94 Volvo 940T (MIL drives it, but it's ours), and the 68 coupe project car. Add in one boat, and I spend too much time working on the fleet and not enough on the project. Also need to free up funds for the project-

Anybody want to buy a great 91 M5? only 1500 shipped to the US, less than 15000 made!

So, yes, I'm at my limit. Wife has agreed that the next house gets a ~30x40 shop. Now I gotta find a reason that will get her thinking about moving.

I find myself looking for another project from time to time but I really can't afford another one or have ample room. The only way to get another one in the shop is underneath another one stored on a lift and then I worry about an earthquake. The ones I have require enough attention to keep me busy, there is always something going on.
In the shop is a 65 & 66 mustang coupe and convertiable and a 38 ford street rod all are finished and insured. Outside a 27' motorhome, 20' boat, 19' car trailer and 2 DD's. I would sure like to pick up a fastback though. :gobp

I have way too many:
