May I indulge in a little self promotion....
Tuesday, March 8th in person and via the web, there will be an assistance dog greet and presentation starting at the Student Union (11am-11:45am ) and then finishing up with a formal presentation at Forum Hall (12pm - 1pm). There will be people with their service dogs and volunteer puppy raisers with pups in training from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and KSDS.
This is the second year for this event and it had a great turnout last year. We'd love to have anyone join us at K-State, but you will also be able to watch the formal presentation via the web, Live! There's no cost to watch or attend and to be honest...who wouldn't want to be around a gaggle of puppies!!
Deb and I have been involved with CCI for 11 years. The first 8, we had a facility dog that lived with us and Deb took him to work every day. She used Jeb to help people with physical and mental disabilities in their occupational therapy around the state of Kansas. After he died a couple years ago, we decided to become volunteer puppy raisers to try to give back and hopefully continue training new "Jebs"!
Service dogs are really amazing animals and we just love spreading the word about them. You never know when you'll cross paths with someone that could benefit from a service dog. In our own small way, it really is a chance to change a life! It also helps offset all of the bad stuff I do, can't beat that :roll
I've attached a PDF of the flier.
