Any members in SLO, CA?

Always on vacation!
OK, I need to find someone who can weld in SLO. I have a 48 state CAT that I need to get welded in my daughter's S10.

The muffler shops will not do it and it is too backed up to make the 8 hour drive. heck, if someone could cut out the old one and weld in a pipe, she could get home and I could finish it up.

Thanks guys,

Mel

I have a friend in Torrance that used to work in SLO. E-mailed him to see if he knows anyone.

Nope, nobody I know, unfortunately. Shops won't touch it due to a myriad of legal issues, and I just don't happen to know anybody here with a welder=/

I know someone that might be able to do it, they are located in Burbank. Let me know if Burbank area would work before I put in the call.

Burbank is too far. I will probably have her drive it slow home and when I am home. I'll have the car trailer hooked up and waiting.

just for sh1ts I might have her go to a self car wash and steam clean the engine. I had a buddy's Ranger catch fire cuz he drove it to the muffler shop with a plugged up cat and the oil and crap on the engine caught fire. Burned to the ground. Hate to see that happen.

Maybe you could find a shop that would cut the pipe and tie the exhaust out of the way? Illegal? Yeah! Ghetto? uh-huh! Keep her from frying the engine on a long drive? Yep!

I'm pretty sure there's some flex tube on the shelf at work (Kragen/O'reilly's). Not sure if it's the right size, but it's a start.

Shops really won't touch this because of the new smog laws. I know many of the shop owners and techs around here, and I doubt they'd do it even if it was my car. It's just too much of a liability.
