Frankly, I'm to the point where it's just not as much fun working on these things all the time...They are only original once, and this one definitely has that going for it.
you might have already decided :confu
maybe you should go for it!

Hey Bob, you do know the last track day for 2012 is next Wednesday right?

Looks like I now own a "4-eye".... :roll

86-145 has 42,000 actual miles. It's PAINFULLY original. Going to clean up very nicely!. I couldn't believe how nicely it drove - very tight & smooth. Paint is a little duller than I hoped, but a quick sample showed me it WILL buff out very nicely. This is going to be a really nice car.... :yah

Minuses - 86 Saleens did NOT get the 5-lugs or the brake upgrades - that started in 87.

Back in the early 80's Dad and I were members of OCMC (Orange County Mustang Club), and we would have guest speakers quite often. One night we had this dude who was talking about getting new Mustangs from Ford and modifying them. He also raced them as well. To me that sounded a lot like what CS was doing back in the 60's. But the one thing that I do remember was him taking about the 4 lug wheels that he was having issues with. The issue was breaking the lugs during racing and that next year he was going to fix that by going to a 5 lug wheel. The dudes initials were SS, and if I would have had a cell phone with a camera I would have taken a pic. :sarc

And there is something about the '86 model year that I have always liked. Good decision! :thu

Brings back memories of my first new car too, a black '86 GT! Congrats Bob!

I'm banking on all that 4-eye nostalgia!! :thu Let's hope these take off like 65/66 Shelbys someday. :part

Actually had a guy at the cruise yesterday ask about selling. Told him I'd just bought it 4 hours earlier, so NO...
